14T PATRIOT Launching Station Enhanced Operator/Maintainer


A PATRIOT (Phased Array Tracking to Intercept of Target) Launching Station Enhanced Operator is an important part of the Army's air defense artillery team. The PATRIOT missile system teams are used to launch advanced-technology ammunition capable of neutralizing multiple air targets. The PATRIOT missile system consists of an engagement control station, electronic power plant, communication relay group and up to eight launching stations. The PATRIOT Launching Station Operator works directly with the PATRIOT launching stations.

Duties performed by Soldiers in this Military Occupation Specialty include:

  • Operates and performs preventive maintenance checks and services on vehicles.

  • Operates a 10-ton crane.

  • Engages hostile targets with the PATRIOT weapon.

  • Performs checks and adjustments and loads the M60 Machine Gun.

  • Performs emplacement, march orders and preventive maintenance checks and services on the Radar Set, the Engagement Control Station, the Guided Missile Transporter, the Launching Station and the Guided Missile Canister.

  • Emplaces and march orders the Battalion Tactical Operations Center.

  • Load/reloads PATRIOT missiles.

  • Assists in the preparation of tactical overlays for military maps.

  • Supervises lower grade soldiers and provides technical guidance to the soldiers in the accomplishment of their duties.

  • Conducts Reconnaissance, Selection, and Occupation of Position.

  • Collects, prepares, and processes operations and intelligence information.

  • Prepares situation report and warning order.
